Digital Health Monthly: Accelerating DHT Research and Drug Development with Open-Source Big Data from Population Studies

Digital Health Monthly: Scientific Webinar Series

Sensor-based DHTs are shedding an illuminating light on how people function in their real-world environments. Drug developers, researchers, patients, and regulators are realizing the multifaceted value sensor-based DHTs can bring to clinical research.

As their adoption continues to grow, the ActiGraph team is excited to continue ‘Digital Health Monthly’, a monthly series of science-focused webinars to share the latest high-impact developments in clinical research from innovators in the digital health field. Each month, we feature brief data-driven presentations from clinical researchers, data scientists, and biostatisticians on a focused topic with dedicated time for audience Q&A. We believe that together, we can move the digital health technology field forward faster, and we are excited for this opportunity to facilitate important discussions on the latest research with members of the digital health community.

Traditional clinical trial endpoints for Huntington’s Disease (HD) often fail to capture the subtle, real-world manifestations of motor and non-motor symptoms experienced in daily life. As the field moves toward earlier interventions—particularly in early-stage HD—there is a critical need for more sensitive, objective, and longitudinal measurement tools.

In this webinar, Matthew Roche, PhD, from CHDI Foundation will discuss the HD-Integrated Staging System (ISS) and clinical trial landscape in HD. Dr. Roche will also present the usability study on HD patient perspectives on DHTs. Jamie Adams, MD, from the University of Rochester Medical Center will discuss key concepts of interest that can be captured using DHTs and their potential to transform clinical research in HD. She will highlight how passive monitoring of gait, balance, and physical activity can enable a more holistic understanding of disease progression and treatment response.

The session will be moderated by Rakesh Pilkar, PhD, from Ametris, who will also summarize key takeaways from the recent HD pre-conference workshop at ADDS 2026 and provide an overview of ongoing efforts to generate evidence supporting digital movement measures in HD.

Key Learning Objectives:

  • Stratification Framework: Understand the HD-ISS and patient stratification in clinical trials.

  • Measurement Gaps: Identify the limitations of current clinical tools and why "real-world" data is essential for the next generation of HD therapies.

  • Digital Innovation: Evaluate current digital measures for motor progression, including smartphone-based assessments and wearable sensor technologies.
